Problem and Solution
Only 5% of people on the Earth knows how to code.
Is it possible for them to build a web without the knowledge of code?
Our Start-up want to deliver a software program where anyone
without coding knowledge can easily make web contents.
Simple and intuitive UI and UX design were needed to accomplish this goal.
My Research Process
My first approach as a lead designer, was to divide possible product user group into 4 categories: designers, non-designers, and product managers, and contents creators. Due to the program was for non-coders, Programmers were not included in the research.
Then, In-depth interview questionnaire were set up to find user insights on experiences using common graphic tools, and compare them with our product. 8 design-majored people were participated in the research. Each interviewee took 1 hour to use our tool, then gave us feedback on it. 12 big questions were given to them.
Research Conclusions
Based off the different interviews we conducted and the survey we sent out, we narrowed down our insights into 3 basic user needs we wanted to address
Designers were already used to design tools those were already released. They want linear experience. No different from previous ux.
Smart Guide and Grid system was needed (like Wix). They wants intuitive input ux design
Current main homepage, templates and user interface designs are out-dated
FINAL INSIGHTS
Simple and intuitive UI and UX design were needed to fullfill this goals. There were a lot of functions I have worked on to promote, and not all of them were in the service because of the change in pivoting.
BRAND IDENTITY DESIGN
Current logo design was too out-dated and needed to be renewed.
There were 3 keywords of this product. There were 3 keywords that CEO gave me:
Dynamic, technology, and simple. So I made symbols inspired by those words.
ICONOGRAPHY
Icons were made with simple black line, to
bring up sophisticated mood to the overall UI design.
FINAL PRODUCT
Icons were made with simple black line, to
bring up sophisticated mood to the overall UI design.
