City in a Village: Civichon

A City in a Village was a conceptual and critical investigation attempting to bridge the gap that exist between urban and rural living in South Korea. As a project, My team and I, set out to investigate and map both urban and rural values, through On  Site, Field Research, visiting a Rural City in South Korea, and getting to understand which values were important to them, both through observations, research and interviews. Secondly, through creation of imaginary personas that would inhabit this space, named CiViZens. Utilizing this data, we were able to conceptualize and develop a city plan adhering to both urban and rural values, thereby attempting to overcome the divide that exist between the rural and urban society. This City Masterplan is what was then sculpted and made into a series of folded paper journals which were presented as the centerpiece for the exhibit at the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna from May-October 2021.
